Although I keep my collecting needs to 1865 and before. There are a couple designs of beyond that date I collect. Those are the Indian Gold (none yet:eek:), Morgan Dollars, a few commemorative designs, and the buffalo nickel.

I was searching through newly listed items when I spotted this for $10 below PCGS price. The seller says it has nice colors. Can't wait to see it in hand.

Well I hope the seller is right because you bought a very common coin with a permanent ceiling. The approximate graded population for a 1938-D Buffalo in MS65 is 25000/30000. The MS65 is available for $30-$40 while the MS66 is $50-$60. Personally, I would only ever buy this issue in MS67 or above. Just to give you an idea, this is what is available for around $50.

1938-D Buffalo Nickel NGC MS66 LIGHT Rainbow Toned ~COLORFUL TONING~ COLOR

Face it Tim, you are and always will be a NEWPer!

You collect Indian Gold but don't have any yet? Now that IS completely different.

Well. The seller wont take a money order . So I'm out of luck. I don't have PayPal and have had no issue with money orders since it saves the sellers money in fees.

That's a nice nickel - looks like a fairly good strike with good luster, and I'm sure the gold toning looks much better in hand.

I would rather pay a little more using paypal (for the protection) than send someone a money order.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that.
How does one say they're a collector of something they do not yet possess?

PayPal isn't hard to set up. You have to jump through a few hoops to get verified, but it just takes a few days. If you don't have PayPal you're extremely limited as to online shopping.

If you don't have a credit card or debit card that is. Your only extremely limited if you do all of your shopping on eBay.

Yes, of course. But who doesn't have a debit card? Maybe Detecto thinks you need a credit card to use PayPal. You don't - a bank card is fine.

You apparently don't know his history then. If you stick around long enough, you'll know more about Detecto and his personal life than your own family. ;)

Even a debit card is somewhat hard to get. You can tie your PayPal account to your checking account, too.
Detecto has probably blown any chance at a checking account or a debit card. Cash is no longer king.

Detecto has many problems in life, none of which are of his own making.

Actually there are a lot of people that call themselves collectors - with very few coins or small collections. And yet some of them also have a vast amount of knowledge. Maybe he will study and look at them for a long time before he can actually afford one. And actually that is a good way to learn. PS - I could say I am a collector of 1793 liberty cap large cents and I hope to one day own one. :)
