Thought I'd finally show my large-sized follis of Anastasius. Got it back in December but since I posted his monogram coin I thought I'd well share this one too. A very wide but thin (for its size) coin.

With Anastasius' coin reform, the follis (worth 40 nummi) and the other Byzantine bronze denominations (pentanummium, half-follis, etc.) mostly replaced the tiny then-almost worthless nummi that were in circulation in the Eastern Roman Empire at that time.

Cool addition. I got one too recently, I never posted here. Isnt the best, shoddy patina and in hand, M clash on the obverse.

Ummm, I kinda have an Anastasius example ... but it has been overstruck by Heraclius (kinda cool)
