For those of you who've been in the market for a while, I wish for your opinions on this coin: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...akeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en Yes, I know it's not mine and so comes with all the cautions of posting on an open forum. But here's the thing, I don't care if you want to bid on it or not. I want your opinions on it, so if you wish to bid, do so with a clear continence. Also, I thought it was a good illustration on how ebay photos might affect the price of a coin. So like I said, bid away!
Its a very nice coin but Greek imperials aren't really my thing so you don't have to worry about me bidding on it it looks authentic to me and is definitely a coin worth having if you collect these.
Eng has one, he posted pics in the thread below.... Ancients => Six days o' fun => Six new coins => Please join in!! Its a nice coin!!
Sorry, I wasn't clear in my other post. Just the ones with Greek lettering and from the Greek-cultured eastern cities of the Roman Empire.
I thought so...BTW by out bidding me you would be doing me a favor...I found a different issuer that I REALY REALY need.
I have this one in my watch list. If the price doesn't go too high, I may be bidding against you. It's a nice coin.
PLEASE DO!!!!! My bid is only the reciprocal of one half dollars higher (Wait, I can say that right? If not, then sorry and erase this message from your mind).
The coin is a real winner except for a feature that keeps me from bidding on it. I do believe that it is worth over the current level. The date is listed as L IB but the B is hardly clear and I suspect the ID was made by comparing what is available in the catalogs. If the B were clear, this could be a $100 coin but as it is, I don't want it. My year 9 is not as nice but I have a thing for year 9 coins so I bought it. I'm tempted to try to remove a bit of the green from the obverse.
Its a lovely looking coin & has a wonderful portrait. I would gladly take it into my collection. But I dont bid on other peoples coins if I know they plan too. Plus I got some new goodies at long beach show today, will share them in time.
I'm not sure I was clear in my earlier post. I have had this in my watch list for a couple of days and I may or may not bid as the auction nears it's end. I do not claim this coin off limits and I'm truly on the fence about trying to buy it. So, if anyone else is interested, please bid away.
Vlaha, personally I would just not post current auctions. I know you didn't want to bid on this coin necessarily, but what if others on CT WERE going to bid. By posting the auction, you might have ticked them off by promoting this coin and possibly raising the price it went for. When I first joined CT I did the same thing, and someone here, (on this thread), explained to me why it was a bad idea and he was going to bid on the auction. Ever since then I never post current auctions at all, since posting one for ANY reason save showing a fake possibly could interfere with others bidding. Just my opinion.
I was out at the 15 dollar shipping price tag to ship to Canada. Nice coin though. I hope someone from the gang speaks up claiming that they won!
