Ancients => until tomorrow Ummm sorry, "I" am being pulled-away, but you dudes should really get your act together and post your favourite "*****-coin" yah, I have no idea what that means, but maybe it'll ring a bell in your noggins?!! => post your favourite ... *whateva*
I have an idea. Since many of us don't visit the other forums, post some recent modern acquisitions, if you collect any modern. I've become interested in Hard Times and Civil War tokens. Here are three. I have two more arriving, hopefully tomorrow...
Nice stuff folks ! Just one ? That's hard job ! Favorite what ? modern ? feudal ? ancient ? I'm with JA on that one, as we mostly show off with ancients here (well, I do actually, don't know for others ) I will post something you don't see very often on these boards : a gold pistole from the principality of Dombes minted in 1579 by the prince Louis II de Montpensier (unique to date that year) : Pistole, or - 1579 (inédite) Atelier de Trévoux + LVDO . P . DOMBARVM . D . MONTISP Ecu de Bourbon couronné + DNS . ADIVTOR . ET . REDEM . MEVS . 1579 Croix feuillue 6.54 gr - 25-26 mm Ref : Date inédite : Divo Dombes -, PA -, Mantellier -, Boudeau -, Sirand - Q
Sorry fellas not sure why the slabbed pics came up twice since I posted them only once..... On the pictures being orientated wrong - you gotta change their orientation and see if they line up right. All my are proper but, her the uploads get turned sideways when posted - I counter flip em and sometimes that does the trick by compensating but, sometimes I gotta just flip em back and they go up correct....trippy code nuances...
Here's an English silver coin which was issued a couple of years before the French Revolution. I liked its superb clear and neat condition.
Hey 7C, that's exacly the kind of chunk I'd like for my english coins collection. Very nice, a shilling I guess ! My only George III coin so far is a cartwheel penny, ten years younger... Q

It's easy to see why the posts are favorites---they are all fantastic!! One of my newest favorites, since I decided to replace my Modern Type Collection while always adding to my replenished Ancients...

Every month or two, I use random.org to help me randomly select a dozen coins from my collection. I then pull them out of their flips and sit them in a tray I keep nearby so I can easily pick one up when the (random) urge to handle and admire an ancient coin strikes. This one's my favorite from the most recent batch. ALLECTUS Quinarius 2.9g, 19.9mm Londinium (London) mint, 293 - 296 AD RIC V 55; Rogiet 1017; Burnett, Coinage 111. huh? ... man, I don't know what I was thinking when I made this thread? (maybe that's why my wife is so mad at me today?) ... anyway ... here is one of my favourite *whatevas*
A hundred dollar bill? I'd spend that baby on an ancient coin Addendum: wow, only 87,500 of those puppies printed? Correction: I'd spend that bill on several ancient coins Why don't you post the reverse? That's the pretty side.
