http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/tom-mallon-at-coming-home-hospice-sf/44462 It has come to my attention that Tom Mallon's cancer has progressed to the point that he has entered hospice. I do not know what will happen to his website on Asian coins but it might be a good idea to download anything you value like the Sasanian mint and date charts if you ever intend on getting interested in Asian coins. http://www.grifterrec.com/coins/coins.html
These kind of stories are always sad. Some time in the future these kinds if illnesses will not be killers.
My thoughts are with Tom, his family and friends and I hope the time they can spend together now will be both peaceful and reflective. God bless.
Man, very sad news indeed. Though I never met the man, he is responsible for my interest in Persian coins. I learned a ton from him, and considered him a mentor and one of the people I would love to meet someday. Here is wishing the best for him and his family. I hope he beats the odds.
It would be lovely if someone one day beat the odds, I have lost many family and friends to cancer as I am sure we all have and sadly, hospices mean end of life care. This can be an important turning point in someones mental well being where finally acceptance is achieved and some real quality time can be had with those around you without denial or hope where none exists to get in the way of putting things right and making preparations for the next few days/weeks/months. I had some conversations with my friend who was in a hospice which I should have had many many years before and questions were answered for us both, it was a beautiful time, very humbling and levelling. RIP A.
My brother died in the hospital this past Spring as some of you are aware. Kinda unexpected. But YOC is right. We were all in denial right up to the end. I would have loved to have had a conversation like YOC refers to.
Oh no...what terrible news. Never met the guy but his coins of Asia site is phenomenal, don't know how many times I've went there...many, many. If you're interested in ancient Asian coins and haven't been there...go. If you're not interested in ancient Asian coin, go there anyway, you'll be interested after you visit.
