Yah, I've been watching this cool example for weeks (yah, I must admit that I even pulled-in TIF and Doug for coin back-up) I was expecting to pay 3 x estimate for this cool counter-stamped example, so I was very pleased when I scored it for its initial estimate price ($100 hammer) Hey, I love Sicily coins, so this baby falls right into my cool collection ... I love animals and I adore counter-stamps so I'm thinking that this CNG score is a total winner!! cheers, either way ... SICILY, Akragas. Æ Tetras (Hemilitron?) Great coin Steve. I don't see any pellets on mine, but as it only cost 4GBP I can't complain Sicily, Akragus Coin: Bronze Tetras AKPA - Eagle with head lowered standing right on hare - Crab, crayfish left below, mussel between claws no pellets Mint: (425-406BC) Wt./Size/Axis: 9.84g / 22mm / - Notes: No access to Calciati to identify. Never mind, I got Clio'd. I wonder how that happened. My bid was recorded as the winning bid, and it appeared in my User Services as a win. Then I check back and it went to Clio.
ahahaha, JA => yah, I was also Clio'd on my second attempt ... *whatev* => he actually saves me coin-cash, for if I'm actually bidding up in his neck-of-the-woods, then I'm kinda glad that he whacks me back down to my comfortable below-the-salt station!!
Yeah well, it's not a big deal. I guess you have to wait a minute or two for the system to calculate everything out. I'm accustomed to losing 10 times as many coins as I win.
gratz on that well centered countermark I got this below their estimate and my brother paid 2.5X the amount for one that's maybe 20% better on Ebay few weeks ago.
At least you tried. I gave up after all of my possible targets saw unexpectedly heavy bidding well before hammer time. Congrats on the win, SteveO! It was a tough CNG Wednesday and you did well
I scored this counter-stamp baby for $100-hammer and I snagged my Orbiana for $110-hammer ... => yup, I think I spent my coin-cash very well today (nice for a change, eh?)
Hey => please post your counter-stamps and/or your Akragas examples (or whatever, whenever) ... thanks for your comments and likes, gang (this baby was today's primary target => I am very happy that I scored it as low as I did)
I saw the OP coin in CNG e-367, Steve, and was attracted to it. I used to own several C/M Akragas bronzes. I don't collect them anymore, but I liked how this one had so much of the original devices remaining on both sides. I'm glad I didn't bid now. Congratulations!
