Things have been quiet on the buying front recently. I have bought myself three Probus coins, more out of habit rather than them being anything interesting. I am just a sucker for these coins when they are fully or nearly fully silvered. These three coins all have decent details and lots of silvering remaining. nicely silvered probi martin, the second rome coin has a great obverse...nice details and dead on centered.
Nice additions. Sometimes its nice to just buy something even if its not special in some way. Did that over a month ago. Heck the greek I posted recently was one of them.
I hear you Martin. I don't even collect Probus but bought one a couple of months ago just like your third coin but opposite, the obverse of mine is completely silver with the reverse being somewhat mottled. Our two coins could be bookends.
I like all three. Great silvering. Cool thunderbolt in the exergue, temple coins are cool, and horses in quadriga 3-d ain't so bad either.
Man, those are some sweet-n-silvery pickups, my friend (congrats) ... ummm Martin, I'd post my only Probus, but even I'm getting sick of seeing it!! Thanks for showing us your cool new additions (geeesh, I love your coins!!)

In the 1990's it seemed there must have been a hoard being disbursed and I got several part silvered coins of Probus for what seemed like reasonable prices. I soon discovered that part silvered coins are not the easiest to photograph. I do tend to prefer coins that I believe I will be able to shoot successfully and these gave me an attitude about part silvered coins. Still, it is not all that easy to find really nice coins with no silver. Below are nine of my Probus coins I like and one that really does not belong here. Who can point out the 'ringer' that should not be shown here?
