Curiosity drove me to the above page which I found very interesting even though the chance of my attending is somewhere south of zero. The floorplan allows you to select a 'Specialties List' which includes ancients. That turns dealers who claim to have ancients a different color. The show categorizes dealers in price brackets (Ultra Premium to Economy) and scatters the ancient dealers all over the floor. Baltimore has a section called Ancient and World where dealers I will want to see congregate except for a couple who also sell US and prefer to camp there (where the money is). At first it looks like a lot of ancient dealers but many seem to be claiming to have everything so I would not expect a huge selection in any one field. After clicking on ancients and turning those dealers blue, you can mouseover world and cause those dealers to turn red showing that there will be three dealers at the show who claim ancients but do not list world also (Musa, Nilus and Tom Cederlind). I'm not saying that you won't find good coins at dealers who do everything but only three people hoping to pay for their table just with ancients does not seem like many.

I would love for Baltimore to post a utility like this. I'd find it much more useful if it covered a show I can attend.

Doug, I looked and came up with 11 dealers in the "ancients" section. That does not seem like a ridiculous number to me, perhaps you see more? I'll probaly post a photo version of the exhibit after the show, sadly it's not on ancients; don't say I didn't warn ya. ;)

JA, it's Portland Oregon, as opposed to Portland Texas or Portland Maine.

Eng, awesome! i'm still bummed I wasn't able to make it to the Boeing show.

Yea, I havn't been on all that much, the exhibit has been taking up a lot of the time I'm not spending on theater or school. You never realize how much free time you have until you start cuting it...

Man, I need to start going again to the local monthly show in my area. Haven't gone in forever. For me its feels pretty satisfying to actually bring the coins home with me.

Ah, well, Portland Oregon is a long commute from the planet of the Amish. But do post your exhibit, ancient or not. I'm sure we'd all like to see it.

I agree with the 11 count but most of them also list several other things which means that they may have half a dozen or a couple thousand. Only three were just ancients but at least three others I recognized as sellers of ancients in the past. Sorry to hear your exhibit is not ancient but will enjoy seeing it. I credit/blame you for many of us here having started gathering Alexandrian coins so I had hopes that might be it.

A question for all: If you are going to a show that has exhibits and programs but will only be at the show one day, how much time do you devote to shopping and how much to exhibits? I once gave a slide talk at a Virginia Numismatic Assn. show on Ancients. Five people attended. One of the organizers said that that was one more than had attended the show an hour before on Buffalo nickels. I know I go to shows for 'collection building' and only look at exhibits if I run out of cash or tables I have not searched. I suspect I am in the majority here.
