Ancients => My wife is out of town, so I bought a Nabataean in her memory!!

    Ummm, so she'd probably be happy with my purchase, right? (please don't tell her!!)

    Diameter: 17 mm
    Weight: ???
    Obverse: jugate busts of Aretas IV & Shuqailat
    Reverse: Crossed Cornucopias, Petra

    Thanks, Mat ... yah, I thought that it looked pretty slick (a bit of desert patina, giving it a bit o' punch!)

    ... hey, I'm no expert ... but I think that I've "ticked-off" my Nabataean-box, yes?

    Man, I love collecting ancient coins ... who would ever have thought that a thing called a Nabataean coin would make me feel "all tingly inside?"

    Well done! Nice, sharp inscriptions on the reverse. But I think you may have misspelled Nabobateean? :D

    Apparently, this coin is from => 9 BC - 40 AD ... and probably weighs 5 grams

    9 BC to 40 AD are the dates of Aretas IV's rule. This particular type was minted in his last year, 39/40 AD, and it continued through the reigns of Malichus II and Rabbel II.
