Yes, I saw this humble ol' Vandals coin and I decided to add it to my collection ... Vandals, Municipal Coinage of Carthage AE 4 Nummi Date: 480-533 AD Diameter: 9.61 mm Weight: 0.85 grams Obverse: Diademed and draped bust, holding palm Reverse: - / N / IIII => $56 US (delivered) ... cha-ching!! Yah, I looked around a bit and discovered that this type usually goes for considerably more than this amount (Jango verified that he thought it was a pretty slick price) => here is a link of several other examples (most of them quite a bit nicer than mine, but all of them more expensive than my new OP-addition) https://cngcoins.com/Search.aspx?PAGE_NUM=&PAGE=1&TABS_TYPE=1&CONTAINER_TYPE_ID=3&IS_ADVANCED=1&ITEM_DESC=vandals ae 4 nummi&ITEM_IS_SOLD=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_1=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_3=1&SEARCH_IN_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID_2=1 NOTE: my guy did warn me that he'd "treated/cured" the poor coin for a wee bit o' bronze disease (Mat, don't listen) ... but he is my favourite seller, so I am trusting him (he rocks) ... "The spot that had me a little concerned on the coin you are interested in is the one on rev., beside the N. Green deposits, but solid, nothing powdery" Oh, and I do have a bottle of Verdicare if things end-up going south!! Hey, maybe 2017 is the year that I bring street kids into my collection ... clean 'em up a bit and give them a safe & warm place to crash?
Thanks, coin-bro Yah, I don't have too many coins from this coin time-period (late 5th century, early 6th century AD) ... so I was very happy to score this baby
Oh, I forgot to toss-in my usual trailing statement ... => "PLEASE" feel free to post any Vandal coins, or bd-coins and/or any old photos of your ex-girlfriends ... anything that we'll be interested in seeing (bring it) For example, here is my only other Vandals example ... => yup, it's good ol' Vandal Horse!! VANDALS IN CARTHAGE, Æ 21 NUMMI Date: 523-533 AD Size: 20.26 mm Weight: 6.28 grams Obverse: Soldier standing facing Reverse: Head of horse left, XXI in exergue Attribution: MEC 45 ... now I have a buddy to ride Vandal Horse (they're gonna be so happy)
Two days into 2017 and I've already posted two new coins ... => it's gonna be a sweet year at this pace, eh? (365 coins!!) So far, so good ... what could go wrong?
Thanks Jango ... oh, and thanks for your earlier PM-assistance when I was pondering whether I should purchase this baby (I really appreciate your coin-help) Again, coins from the 5th century AD aren't easy to come-by, so I'm lovin' this sweet new Vandal addition ... sure, I have a Sassanian Kingdom example (Peroz I) and an Aelia Eudoxia example from the 5th century, but that's it ... so yah, I love adding this cool lil' winner to my collection (cha-ching) My 5th Century AD Coins (a humble few): Aelia Eudoxia AE3 395-401AD Sassanian Kingdom, Peroz I AR Drahm 459-484 AD Vandals, Municipal Coinage of Carthage 480-533 AD => post 'em if you've got 'em ...

oh wow, what a cool coin! vandal coin, and a weird denomination also...i didn't know there was a 4 nummi! neat!
Thanks for posting your sweet 5th Century AD examples, guys ... Ooow, I forgot about Arcadius (thanks for the reminder, Gandalf) => 383-408 AD
Rats, I have NO VANDALS!!! I have been looking at them, but NOT pulled the trigger. Just wanted one for "just becuz..." I just do NOT know enough about them yet...
Yeah, I think he got that 4-Nummi cuz he has that Canadian $4 Bill too... Who thinks up those weird denominations??? I keep looking for a $17 bill... maybe Canada has one...
Yah chrsmat, I admit that I don't know too much about Nummi-coins (say it ain't so!!) Oh, but this is my only other Nummi example ... => a sweet ol' 12 Nummi Khusro II, Sassanian occupation of Egypt 618-628 AD ... man, that coin always makes me smile (because I know that ANoob loves it!!) ... I love ya, coin-bro
Wow, Gandalf ... you like $4 Dollar bills? => okay, here are a few more beautiful examples for ya ... with "Ships"
Ummm, and why would anybody buy "3" copies of the same banknote? => because all three are different (and cool in their own ways) ... The first/oldest example is shot from the US-side of the locks (Sault Saint Marie locks, which connect Lake Superior and Lake Huron) ... then second and third examples are shot from the Canadian-side ... Oh, and one of the Canadian examples has numeric symbols for $4 and one of the Canadian examples has "FOUR" written => yah, yah ... and that's why I now collect ancient coins rather than sweatin' the details on modern stuff!! ... but it's all good (numismatics rock!!)
Cool! I used to go up to Sault Ste Marie all the time as a kid, and a few times as an adult. Spent a lotta time North of the Sue on Wolf Lake... had to fly in on a Bush Plane, get dropped off on an island, and just fish, shoot, veg out for a couple weeks. Log Cabin was a friend's, with no electricity, hand pumped water directly from the lake into the cabins cistern's, brought in all our food, etc. Only an old logging road got to the lake, but was virtually impossible to drive without the largest 4-wheeler... pretty remote and FUN! Never saw those $4 bills though...
