I haven't treated myself to any Greek silver for a while and thought I would share the coin that brought me off the wagon. It isn't anything particular scarce but it is a type that I had on my Greek silver wish list that can now be crossed off. Macedonia under Roman Protectorate, First Meris, Tetradrachm (Circa 167-148 B.C.) Silver Tetradrachm Obv: Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder, in the center of Macedonian shield. Rev: MAKEΔONΩN / PRΩTHΣ, Club; monogram above, two monograms below; all within oak wreath, thunderbolt to left. Minted in Amphipolis Reference:- SNG Copenhagen 1315. Weight: 17.0 g. Diameter: 28.5 mm. Martin
Great new coin, Martin!! (congrats) That's A-Noob's Avatar ... I'm sure that he'll also be quite impressed with your new purchase!! Due to the cast flans, these coins always look so nice and symetric (I have yet been able to find one that is within my budget) ... congrats again!!
I find this hard to believe. Beautiful coin Martin and a good one to fall off the wagon for (terrible grammar).
Bing, you find it hard to believe that the flans were cast, or you find it hard to believe that I've been unable to find one within my budget?
