=> hey, maybe they're not as valuable as their modern-day brothers, but Oh My God, how fricken cool is this coin??!! ... Cool!!!

Yah, one of the most interesting parts about this cool coin is the fact that I bought it from today's CNG auction for $180 less than the last guy paid for it at a previous CNG auction!!! (ya gotta like swooping-in, eh? => cha-ching!!)

 

Ancient brockage. I love it!

 

I'm fuming about the auction today. What a frustrating and hard week this has been. Work was eating my lunch and I was trying to juggle a bunch of auctions.

Today there were two CNG offerings I wanted. Got the first one, after having the system not recognize me repeatedly as I was trying to bid. Finally the bid went through and happily I only had to go up one increment-- no further bidding. Pleased with the price, glad to have nabbed that one.

However...

Twenty minutes later as the second coin was nearing close the same thing happened even though I was in theory already logged in. Repeated attempts to submit the bid failed (system didn't recognize me) and the coin, one I really wanted, hammered at far less then I would've paid. It hammered for $150. It sold two years ago for $545. Grrrr.

Oh well. There will be more opportunities!

I don't have any new coins to share, but we took the kids to the local fair tonight. How about an ancient tractor?

You know, I'd like to collect a handful of really dramatic errors like that, but they get pricey. After Doug started his recent thread, I went looking for some neat errors, but decided to hold off until a few other coins on my to-do list were checked off.

I'm sure you paid a pretty penny for that brockage, but it was worth it - they just don't get any better than that.

 

One of the risks of waiting until near the end, I suppose, although I didn't wait 'til the last few seconds this time. I had several minutes to log in and out repeatedly. Wonder what the problem was, hope it doesn't happen again. I've had no problem with bidding on CNG before.

Might've been my browser. This evening it was doing all kinds of funky stuff. Shut down the computer and restarted and found that Chrome did a major update. I bet it was related to that. The pre-filled password looked too short and then typing it in correctly (repeatedly) just didn't work. yeah, must've been a Chrome thing.

 

Yah ... I hate techy-problems ... I'm not a computer-head, so if something goes awry I am helpless ("reboot" is my only self-defense!!)

Hey, I bought "6" other coins in the last few days/daze ...

=> I'm gonna stick 'em all into one single thread, "tomorrow" ...

=> owww exciting, eh? (yah, it's actually more exciting wondering how I'm gonna pay for them all?!!)

 

I bought a 'surprise package' from Goldberg. One of those multi-coin lots with minimal description. Sooooo looking forward to seeing if there's anything interesting! Worst case scenario... I'll have a lot of trade fodder.

Got a few other coins from my list recently I'm going to wait to post them-- part of a themed collection (whee! my first themed collection). I'll post the coins once the collection has adequate representation and you guys can try to guess the theme.
