Yup, thanks to the great effort of my cool coin friend Ed Snible, I was able to set the trap and capture the illusive Pontos Laodikia aegis coin!! => also known as my "Bigfoot" coin (yah, I seriously didn't think that I'd ever find one and complete this mini-set of mine, but cha-ching => with a little help from my coin-friends, I managed to capture the missing link) What an awesome feeling!! (my OCD is finally back in "check") ... anyway ... TIF tried convincing me to make a grand research effort and wow you guys with an awesome stage-show!! ... but sadly, that is far more in her ball-park (she always has such great thread presentations, eh?) However, as you know I'm a wee bit more off-the-cuff and ... well, a lot coin-lazier!! So, I'm gonna stick to what got me here ... I'm gonna show-off my cool coins and hope that you join-in and love 'em!! Oh, but my wonderful and clever coin-girlfriend did help me out tremendously with some awesome coin "jazz-hands" props ... perhaps you'll recognize her sweet style? Pontus, Laodiceia (Laodikia), AE20 85-65 BC Diameter: 20 mm Weight: 8.69 grams Obverse: Gorgoneion, facing, centered in aegis Reverse: Winged Nike r. carrying palm branch (ΛAOΔI-KEIAΣ) Reference: BMC 1 Other: Sweet-n-rare!! What was the Aegis? ... all of those quotes were cut from Ed Snible's awesome link (below) ... http://snible.org/coins/aegis2.html Hey Ed & TIF => thanks again for all of your coin-friendship and assistance (you guys rock!!) Oh, and I was gonna wait until later to show-off TIF's other awesome favour, but I might as well pull-out all of the cool jazz-hands props right away, eh? How fricken cool is this?! She made me an awesome coin-tray!! (wow, that's pretty fricken cool, eh?) Cheers to all of my great coin friends here at CoinTalk Oh, and cheers to actually completing one of my coin-avenues!! => only $660 (delivered) for the entire collection!! ... over 1/2 of that was for the two rarest (Chewy & Latka)
ahahaha, that's awesome (you always make me laugh, chrsmat) Thanks gang ... Oh, and I almost forgot to re-mention my other coin-buddies, JA and Z-Bro!! ... they each sold me one of the 7 coins shown above ... => so again, this collection has really been a combined effort by a lot of my coin-contacts here at CoinTalk (thanks again and again) Man, I love this place!!
Very cool set Steve, I wondered how long it would take to lasso that last calf. It is nice to have coin friends who get it. I will alert the media....
Your entire write-up is pretty fricken cool. Thanks to Steve, TIF, Ed, and everyone that makes this World a nicer place for us all.
