Here's a worn (and slightly cup coin-shaped) Antoninus Pius as I picked up for cheap recently. The seller attributed it as RIC 828, which is : O: ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS IIII, laureate head right R: SECVRITAS PVBLICA S-C, Securitas standing left, holding long sceptre & leaning on column. What's left of the reverse does seem to match up with the examples of RIC 828 I've looked up, but the obverse legend doesn't. On this coin the obverse legend would seem to be just ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P, and the references I've checked (Sear, OCRE, wildwinds, acsearch) haven't thrown up anything for me. Any help from you guys would be really appreciated! Z.
Sadly zumbly, I kinda suck a bit in the ol' help-column!! (but I "rock" as a coin-cheerleader!!) Great eye-appeal on your nicely-toned, new purchase ... congrats!!
I was curious about the coin and tried looking in various places-- no luck. I have no hardcopy resources though. I don't see the combination listed in the free resource ERIC. Hope someone else can find it for you!
Thanks for taking the time to try and help, TIF! Cant be said enough that this is really a great community.
