Aelia Eudoxia AE3, OBV: AEL EVDO-XIA AVG, Pearl-diademed, draped bust right, wearing necklace and earrings, crowned by hand of God. REV: SALVS REI-PVBLICAE, Victory seated right on cuirasse, pointing to a shield inscribed chi-rho which rests on a low column, Mintmark ANTG. REF: RIC X 104 This is my first coin I got for my birthday. My father and stepmother generously gave me some cash and so I am indulging myself with some much needed coins! This is the seller's photo, the coin is on it's way here. I have two more that I will post later.
Very nice. One of the best of her's that I've seen. Sadly, though, I do not own any of hers. Congratulations.
Gil, great lookin' coin, happy Birthday, awesome gift from your folks.. I picked one up in the last vauctions.. Aelia Eudoxia...400- 404..AD. Wife of Arcadius Augusta. Obv. pearl- diademed and drapped bust right, being crowed by the hand of God. Rev. Victory seated right, supporting shield with chi-rho. ANTT mint Antioch 17mm x 2.54g. VF, black patina with earthen highlights..
It's a great coin with abundant detail, Gil. A tough issue - for me the important features are the hand of God on the obverse and a complete shield on the reverse. Yours has both, plus a full mint mark. Great choice.
Happy Birthday, Gil-galad (Daryl) ... => congrats on a super coin!! Ummm, I very recently scooped-up an example as well ... yah, like 10 minutes ago!! => well, it has been in my sights for the last couple of years, but I thought that I'd wait until it was your B-day, as well as being Caracalla's B-day ... => so Happy Birthday, G-g-dawg => let's celebrate with our new Aelia Eudoxia pick-ups ... cheers, brother!! (#122 out of 207 on the Rarity List) ... *sweet* Aelia Eudoxia AE3 (Constantinople mint) Date: 395-401 AD Diameter: 17.7 mm Weight: 1.5 grams Obverse: AEL EVDOXIA AVG - Diademed and draped bust of Eudoxia, crowned by hand of God. Reverse: GLORIA ROMANORVM - Empress seated on throne, crowned by hand of God; cross left. References: RIC 77 or 78
Man, there is a whole lotta Hand of God with this empress, eh? (I like her coins) => again, I hope that you're having a great birthday (cheers, brother)
Very nice coin there, Steve. Great way for me to have even a better celebration with excellent Eudoxia coins! Eng, your coin is also very good. Very nice coin bros. What's awesome is that my birthday is actually on Sunday. The premier day of Game of Thrones. At last, it's here! Couldn't fall on a better day.
Thanks JA. That's exactly what I was looking for when I picked it up. There were a couple to choose from that just appeared on the market. I got the best one from that dealer.
You'll find one, one day. The price on this one was ok, not a super deal but about spot on. I asked for a discount on it and received. I got it for $30.
