Here is my 2nd Dupondius => Mr-T => yup, it's many people's favourite Roman Ruler => Ragin' Trajan!! Trajan Æ Dupondius 98-117 AD Rome mint Struck circa AD 103-107 Diameter: 27 mm Weight: 13.39 grams Obverse: Radiate bust right, wearing aegis Reverse: Trophy with two shields at base Reference: RIC II 586; Woytek 196cA Other: 6h ... VF, green patina, numerous cleaning scratches on reverse Ex Robert O. Ebert Collection => I thought this coin was pretty cool (for a non-animal coin!!)
There must be an animal in there somewhere. Beautiful coin with an interesting reverse. :thumb::thumb:
What does the green patina look like in hand? I love the green patinas but sometimes it's hard to tell from pictures. Nice big coin!
Hey, "Hi Lord Geoff" => sorry man, but I don't actually have the coin "in-hand" yet ... I will try to "remember" to give you an update once the actual coin arrives (man, I'm certainly "hoping" that it looks even better in hand ... and I usually always find a reason to "love" the coins a bit better when they're in hand!!!) ... man, isn't it fricken amazing that we actually get to see/hold coins that are "1000's" of years old .... it blows my mind why "everybody" isn't runnin' like the wind to snatch-up these coins (it blows my mind) .... coins rock!!!
US coins? What are those things again? Oh yeah, those coins! Yeah I won't be going back to those again either.
