I finally have a coin to show off. This one just finally got to me today after taking a nice trip across the States. Shipping to Manitoba can be so flippen slow sometimes. Customs really doesn't help any either. I am very happy to have a Trajan tetradrachm addition Trajan. A.D. 98-117. BI tetradrachm Mint: Alexandria, year 19 (A.D. 116/7). Obverse:AVT TΡAIAN AΡI CEB "EΡM "AKIK, laureate head right, star before Reverse: Dikaiosyne standing left, holding scales and cornucopiae; across field, L I-Θ. Köln 684; Milne 740; Emmett 372 Every now and then I do actually pick up something decent. Cheers
Nice coin, the earlier tetradrachms are so much better then the later ones which are nearly bronze. They're notorious for getting bronze disease :/
Yeah the late tetradrachms get smaller and smaller but still remain thick. Which originally brought me to the coins was the size. I like big coins!
I can't imagine how bad it would be in Manitoba... It is disgracefully slow in bloody Ontario... Great Tet! Dikaiosyne: http://www.theoi.com/Daimon/Dikaiosyne.html I believe that Dikaiosyne was identified (forget the correct word) with Aequitas. Some believe that Dikaiosyne was identified with Nemesis, but I disagree with this viewpoint.
Wind - at least it isn't as bad as for Stevex6. In the winter months I wouldn't be surprised if he got mail by dogsled. I also read somewhere that Dikaiosyne was a mix between Nemesis and Aequitas but honestly if I didn't know any better based on the description I would call it either Aequitas or Moneta because of the scales. I think next up for me is going to be saving for a Siliqua. I have been minorly obsessed with them for awhile and hopefully a nice one will come up in auctions at a decent price. Of course I am easily distracted and will probably spend my budget before I even see a Siliqua but it is good to have goals.
I disagree with the Nemesis part of the mix. my opinion is a mix of Aequitas and Justitia, which makes much more sense.
Nice coin. It looks like Trajan has lost his false teeth. BTW, you Canucks shouldn't complain about the mail. I purchased a coin from Nova Scotia that took nearly two months to arrive in Florida. Also, Steve's mail would be much faster if the dogsled wasn't full of the wine he orders (just kidding little buddy).
That is what I am betting as well. Americans are a little bit more picky about they let into their country. It is always an interesting experience going through American customs. I have had friends have the interior of their car taken apart and then told to put it back together themselves. Sidenote: They really don't like it when you try to cross the border at 2:18 in the morning on New Year's Day very drunk saying you are going sightseeing to Mount Rushmore. To clarify yes we had a designated driver and no we didn't make it to Mount Rushmore but we did make it to Nebraska. When we came back two days later the Canadian border patrol thought it was hilarious.
