This note is about changes to the second link about molds (below). I have a site on ancient imitations: http://esty.ancients.info/imit/ We have recently discussed fourrees (silver-plated base metal counterfeits) but today I want to discuss molds. Part of the site has illustrations of ancient counterfeiter's molds. Many have been found in Egypt and some in England (and elsewhere), but about 9 in 10 are badly broken so a piece of mold which is not broken is rare. cool...so these things were worth counterfeiting back in the day even. so they must have had a bit of buying power? i always imagined some guy giving two fallen horsemen to buy an apple.
