Concordia seated left, holding patera and cornucopia Wife of Lucius Verus.. 18mm x 3.3g.
Great lookin' coin, Halibut ... :thumb: => ummm? ... yah Eng, I was totally with ya, until that statement, then I started doubting your tale!!
I don't have a Lucilla, yet ... I really like the coins with "Ladies" on 'em (it's a very good score, my friend)!!
Cool addition. Ive been at a stall with the 3 I need. Mainly its been due to low funds and finishing another hobby I have. This type has the cornucopia and is the earlier issues of her. I have the concordia without the cornucopia. Both are common types for her. Instead of posting each the whole set I have so far is below. http://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=4137
A nice denarius of a formidable woman. Good background and a really good pickup. Well played Eng! Keep 'em coming.
A scarce type but not rare. The Fecunditas is the rarest that can be attainted with patience. Needless to say I am still waiting. The Laetitia & a standing concordia are super rare
How you doing jw, hope all well you and the family, thank all of you for the great feed back, Mat you group is awesome, i just want to get one of each..:thumb:
I'm doing OK. Some of you know my brother died last week. We put him in the ground on Thursday and I've been trying to clean out his house since (I think he was what is called a "hoarder"). Anyway, that is why I have not been on the forum much lately. Thanks for asking John. I do like your coin though. Really good detail.
=> I'm glad to hear that you're handling everything adequately (it is never easy, eh?) ... By the way => I chuckled when you told me that your brother was flirtin' with his nurse (that sounded like a great & lasting final-memory) Cheers to brother-Bing, brothers!! :u*meY:
Nice looking coin Eng! I like the portrait, and the bit of history you added. Even though the fate of many on these Roman coins is often the same "...was put to death." How's life up in "God's Country" the great pacific northwest? I lived in Seattle for a long time. Spent my high school years in eastern Washington. Love it up there.
Very sorry to hear this jw, you and your family are in my prayers, i have one older Oxos and a little bro Dan, a younger sister mimi. i lost two older sister's, Mom and Dad over the last 15 yrs. Race its amazing how all these Emperors and family's are related. They all to seem to kill each other off. I live south of Seattle, federal way area. The weather has been cool, rainy. One thing i've been doing is panning Gold, my two brother's went out and found some Gold flakes..Ancient Gold....
We can't find Roman coin's in the Mountains, Ancient Gold..very small, but there's Gold in there..
Thanks for the thoughts. BTW, JOhn, how much is that gold worth and how long did it take to pan for it?
