Larissa, Thessaly. c. 395-344 BC. Lovely style drachm of 20 mm and 5.73 grams. There are many Larissa pieces in poor stype and this one is not (check vcoins for "Larissa drachm" to see what I mean about poor style). The centering is remarkably good and the lettering for "of the Larissians" is on the flan and clear. The type is a nymph facing (slightly left) and a horse about to roll. (Pulling up his left front foot to roll away from the viewer.) Some minor encrustation outside the type on the obverse. The nose and lips are distinct. Really nice. A beauty.
