This is my third coin i picked up with a head in hand..its a budget coin with some minor problems. a few spots with might have been BD, had to do some digging. i'll keep an eye on it..still i think it has fair details left.. Greek.. Pontos Amisos....109-89..BC.. Later period of Mithradates Vl. Obv. head of Athena right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet. Rev.Perseus standing facing, holding harpa and Medusa's head. Medusa'a body at his feet. Monograms flanking him.. 27mm x 18.27 g.
Well Eng, you know that I love these coins, right? (yup, everybody should own at least one Perseus & Medusa coin!!)
yep, that looks like BD......ensure the coin is very dry and store it. oven at 100 for about 2 hours will do the drying. reverse will clean some more if you have the time, but nice coin as is...........
I've been looking for one of these ever since steve got his. One of these days one will come along to fit in my budget and be near as nice as yours or steve's.
