Ancient found metal detecting real or fake?

    The obverse legend and portrait style are not correct for a genuine official coin of Gordian III. I strongly suspect it is modern but, if ancient, it is unofficial. How it got to GA is anybody's guess.

    The Providentia type is common but I have not seen it with a standard in the background. Originality.

    The style of the lettering on the obverse looks really wrong and sloppy. Might be a tourist fake or modern reproduction/souvenir. The reverse is crude, but more effort has been made to have a pleasing portrait. Which would be consistent with fakes made for the Mediterranean tourist trade. Best guess.
