Won this on Ebay last night. Of course it has a bird (Phoenix on pile of rocks) and patina. This is from Poland so I won't be able to get the coin for awhile in hand. Just going by the pics. Nice green patina (hopefully natural) and 48PLN - witch is 12.28 US dollars. Any thoughts? I thought the green patina was nice BUT can this be created UNnaturaly or is this good? Should've asked before I bought it but it was late and looked nice!
The patina is fine - in fact it's very nice, and it's a good price for the grade. These were minted by Constantius II and Constans to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Rome.
Very NICE!!! And a very fair price as JA mentions. Definitely leave the patina as it is!!! It's the badge of antiquity.
I've traded with Polish collectors a number of times with no problems. Doesn't take any longer than most mail from Europe.
Yes - I actually bought an 1899 Indian head cent for 2.95 FREE shipping from Sweden - and actually got it! I was amazed.
For someone that just literally started looking at ancients, you sure know how to pick them. That is a sweet phoenix.
Cool score, Markus ... nice green patina Ummm, I have a sweet example too ... mine is not green though (congrats) Constans
Thanks for the comment - I was interested in ancients years ago but kinda got un-interested. After collecting Lincoln wheats I got bored and am now getting back into ancients. I find them very interesting. Especially the coins with Phoenix, Eagles, & any type of bird on them. When I do get my recent purchase I'll dig out my others I have in my safe and post some pics - I'd love to read any info about what I might have. Thank you all for your replies!!
