Newest addition is a Julia Domna Antoninianus. Ive had it for awhile but havent been happy with the photos. I only have an iphone 4s for a camera but using a 10 loupe and its smooth surface area in some spots makes it hard. In hand its much better and considering I got it cheap, I am happy and its one off my want list. Julia Domna (194 - 217 A.D.) AR Antoninianus O: IVLIA PIA FELIX AVG, Diademed and draped bust right, resting on crescent. R: VENVS GENETRIX, Venus seated left holding hand out, and scepter. Rome 5g 23mm RIC 388a
Considering I like the empresses, I see this reverse often. It means Mother Venus, goddess of motherhood and domesticity.
Great coin. Great history. Do you have any of the the other Syrian empresses of the Severan dynsasty? guy
Very very nice indeed! Caracalla invented the antininiani, so this would be one of the first types of the denomination, with high fineness. A great coin!
