To go with John Anthony's coin approval Service, i going to start a re-patina your Ancient coin's, for those over cleaned cleaned or dull looking coin's.For only $24.99 you can get that rich green natural color with out waiting 1500 yrs. There will be three different thickness and color..In the the Great NW we have Moss,if you get lost in the woods yoube out of luck, because moss grows on all sides of the tree. you would never know what the North side is. 1st patina is a thick rich green...This area was gravel this last summer 2nd is a medium green patina..This is the cement drive way, cleared this last summer. 3rd.patina just a nice green, that covers your coin...BBQ was pressure washed this last fall.. So if you want thick, medium, regular, green color, only takes 3mts. for just $24.99 and you can have this beautiful color. I'm leaving the 2 Ptolemy coin's out for the next three months, to see the out come...There were no Ancient coin hurt in this posting...
"...You must note the unique conditions achieved by this service are due to the location in Washington state, and should not be attempted by nonprofessionals. Do not try this at home."
If you want your coins to get darkened, send them down to me, in the sunny southeast. I'll give them the tan they need!
no no no you got it all wrong you want to repatina them , you feed them to the dog and extract em from the poop no 3 months of waiting (please please don't try this lol)
this young lady will gladly apply a nice dark patina to all of your coins...and she'll also give your children a protective coat for no extra charge. look at the patina on that kid! FANTASTIC!
Yep, I have London......... There is a lot of truth in this thread. I had a friend who overcleaned a load of coins. He managed to dull the coins to a sellable state in under a year, by leaving them outside under cover......the oxidisation process was quite quick. I have heard you can rub a small amount of oil onto them and do the same and its even quicker. I choose not to overclean in the first place! Of course you cannot get a 2000 year old patina any 'natural' way. The closest I have seen is a Florentine patina, which uses two chemicals...but its not nice in hand and certainly not ethical if selling. My dad and i have decided to leave a large pot in the ground containing a selection of 5kg world coins.......we will put a lid on and bury a good 2 feet plus down. We think it will be fun if they are ever found in a few hundred years time and if they are never found, even better!! just think of them sat there.....forever!!
He he. "Archeologist discovers hoard of random foreign coins in UK. How did these coins come to be, and what lessons can we learn from them about primitive cultures?"
The idea is to reward another metal detectorist in the future, but in a few hundred years we'll probably be able to search a field with a drone firing microwaves at the surface etc etc. so the chances of it staying there for thousands of years are remote IMO. I hadnt thought of the confused archaeologists....ha! that'll tell em! Went out metal detecting today, spent the afternoon picking up samian ware and other Roman/iron age pottery (got a bag full) and found 4 Roman coins (one Carausius) and a few buttons ...... nice and relaxing. Soon be time to go on a new site which is called Chapel field.......Its more likely a Roman temple site I think, but I reckon it'll be a good one.
YOC has the UK office and i think i'll make Vlaha VP of operations....smart kid.. Nice finds YOC , make sure you post some pic's...We'd love to see them..
