Ancient Coin, Prancing Horse & Tree

    DeOrc, Here is that coin I mentioned earlier after you posted your Celtic pieces. This is one I picked up at an American Antique Shop locally here in South Dakota. There is a large contingent of retired military (myself included) here who have traveled the world and the possibility of this being a genuine piece is pretty good, however when I google "prancing horse tree" I get several hits on item which look remarkabley like this one.

    The coin is pretty small about 15mm and 3 grams.

    Bone,
    It is a prancing (or prancuing if you are spelling challenged) horse and grapevine coin of Greek Maroneia (Thrace) from 400BC.
    Believe it or not,I just happen to have one to show you.:rolleyes:

    Great looking coin Bone, thanks also to MikJo for the ID (I hate him he has treasure's LOL) Aiden is right Chris is a great source for info on Celtic coins :D

    Ah Yes, Chris Rudd. I have his site bookmarked and have had my eye on several of his pieces. I'm just waiting (and waiting) for some investments to blossum and fruit, LOL Perhaps it will be a LONG wait...
