I am filling out the sheet to send in to ANACS for my coins to be slabbed. What do I put for the "Owner's Value" for each coin? Also, for denomination I put 50c for a half dollar, right? Finally, ANACS says to put coins in 2.5"x2.5" flips and polybags. What is a polybag? Thanks for the help.
Hello For owners value you just put down the value you would give the coin. I! would go by the red book for this. If I am not mistaken this is used to determine how much insurance they purchase when they ship it back to you. The poly bags are just that. Tiny 2<->2-1/2 inch little bags. Your coin dealer might have some. You just put the coin in the little bag then into the flip. The 50c for the half dollar is correct. Good luck on your submissions. James
Umm...The coin I am sending in doesn't really have a redbook value but here at coin talk you guys said my kennedy error coin is like $1000-$2000 in value, so should I just put $1500 down for that? Also, is it absolutely necessary to put the coins in 2x2 and then also in a baggy, if I don't the coin in a baggy will it be that big of a deal? Thanks for the help.
I called them because I didn't have any 2.5 x2.5 flips or the bags and they said it was alright but they didn't like it...so I would say its alright...I think they will put it in one...so that means that they will handle the coin a little more. I would put more than you think so if anything happens to it you can maybe get a new one...so put $2,500.00.... Speedy
Hello As Speedy said the point of putting the coin in a little bag then into the flip is just to keep them from handling to much. This would be something that would be real important if the coin was fragile or delicate in some way. They do prefer to recieve it the way they ask. They make a point to tell you how well your submision was prepared on your invoice. I got like 50 of the poly bags for 2 bucks. That should last me a realy long time. I just need to get some flips now. I saw some place that sold 100 for around nine dollars. Remeber to not keep any coins in the poly bags for to long (PVC). And when you get flips get the achival safe un-plasticized ones. James
Hello The little bag, then the flip. Thats the way I did it and they said, "Thank you! Your order was well prepared!" James
When I sent they didn't say that but since they told me it was ok I just let it go...they said...DO NOT CUT THE FLIPS IN HALF....I didn't...it they would have looked they would have seen that I didn't....oh well.. Speedy
If you use ANACS often, you might want to purchase the submission kit they offer. It has all the flips, bags, etc. and I think it is less than $20 for the kit.
