I still am trying to find a way to get all of my coins into uniform slabs (I prefer the look of PCGS) while still keeping the varieties info. Will PCGS cross-over an ANACS attributed variety and include the variety attribution on the label?
Only if they recognize the variety. For example, ANACS will authenticate ALL Morgan and Peace VAM's, but PCGS does not. It would be best to check with PCGS before submitting any when you are unsure. Chris
Like Chris said, only if they recognize the variety. One good thing about ANACS is they have a lot more coin attributions they will recognize. Their grading may not be top tier, but for a variety collector they do provide a good service.
You should really talk to PCGS. Since their name would be on the slab and they DO guarantee attributions, I would not expect them to transfer the attribution to the new crossover holder, even for varieties they recognize, unless you pay them to confirm the attribution.
Your comment makes me think that a suggestion that I made on another thread makes even more sense. ANACS could accept NGC and PCGS slabs for attribution of errors/ varieties that the big 2 don't do. Add a sticker with the attribution to the existing PCGS or NGC the way CAC does. That way, PCGS or NGC still are only guaranteeing the grade while ANACS verifies the attribution. It's win-win-win. PCGS or NGC get their grading fees with no additional liability, and ANACS gets the attribution fee. Each does what the market in general thinks they do best. Most importantly, I get what I want, PCGS slabbed coins with ANACS variety attribution. To the folks at ANACS - again, you're welcome, just send me a check. BTW, this is not a slam at ANACS grading , I just like the look of PCGS slabs better and I want uniform slabs for my sets
What I have done in the past is submit my "graded" coins to CONECA for variety attribution. In return, I receive a letter from the attributor that includes the variety AND slab certification number which I would include with any subsequent sale. I additionally use a sticky backed paper to create a non-intrusive label for the slab.
I agree to but Pcgs will note all details noted but you must Pay more for complete details. I was a register Pcgs dealer. It's basically about 50% higher fee and a extra form.
No Pcgs will let you pay more and put Anacs details on a graded coin. Times longer but will cost a lot more as they have to re check details noted on first grade . That will cost a lot more.
Jello , PCGS is very specific in the varieties they will label such. There is much cross over in what each will label, with ANACS doing almost any flyspeck, and PCGS having a list that does not include many of the minor doubling and such that show up here. Perhaps the ones PCGS did include the ANAC description is because they were one both TPG list. Many of the modern lincoln DDRs are not labeled by PCGS , but are by ANACS. However, a 1972 DDO #1 lincoln labeled by ANACs would be label possible by PCGS if all fees were paid.
Pcgs will allow a lot.but key thing is types or die variety most be valid . Will let public pay to hunt doing the live login to get your submitting set up will at fees .
