    Hi,

I'm fairly new to collecting and thinking of have some of my coins graded through ANACS.

I was curious if you had any bad expereinces with them or is there anything I should be concerned about when submitted the coins (other than postal insurance, etc).

Any other significnt experiences with them? They seem to be a reputable company, is there reputation among the coin collecting community positive?

    Thanks.

their reputation is good (considered one of the 4 quality TPG's), but if you use their cheap servive (Economy, IIRC) then be prepared for a LONG wait to get them back.

I have some coins there right now...if you send them the cheapest way it will take 3 months to get them back.

From what I have seen they don't over grade like some of the other Co. do and I list them with the top 4--PCGS, NGC, ANACS, ICG.

If you send in 5 coins dated 1979 or after..it is $12/coin and then it will only take 5 days to grade them.

Yes - ANACS is a reputable company. They can be quite tough on some series when it comes to grading, perhaps even tougher than any of the rest.

I hope your kidding

I only sent in 1 Franklin this time...I wanted to do more but thought it was better to get some of my key dates slabbed first.

The Franklin was a PF-Cameo and a nice one at that.

ANACS is especially tough on Jefferson nickels - and Frankies.

Well a friend from WINS gave me this Franklin---I think it will be A OK.

I don't think I sent in any Jeffersons...my dad got a original bank roll of 1943-P Silver Nickels a few months ago and they were all toned...he sent in a few to NGC that were the best.

Well...I'll just have to let ya'll know how mine turns out.

I sent 20 Franklins to them about a month ago. I am using the fax service this time along with the economy service. Hoping for the best. :)

I hop the best for you...I didn't use the Fax because I don't have the fax on all the time so I wouldn't know when to turn it on.

The coins I sent in were coin that I got before they went up in value so if they come back the grade I think it will be great and it they come back lower it will be ok too.

You are responsible for shipping your coins to the TPG. Every TPG website has instructions how you should ship coins to them. Registered and insured mail are one of the recommedations.

The coins have to be in poly bags and then in 2x5 flips.

The flips are NOT PVC free so don't keep your coins in that kind of flips but when your sending them this kind of Co. do because they like them better because they are softer and can't hurt the coin in the short time they are in the flips.

ANACS is king for varieties as well grading cleaned, dipped and/or corroded coins.

Their economy service takes over 3 months long to complete. My beef with them is that they will accept payment as soon as the coins are received, but services are not rendered until you get the coins back. Hence they "play" with your money for almost 90 days. If they charged your credit card when services are rendered, then I wouldn't mind, but they are quick to charge you for something that takes over 3 months to complete.

Their slabs are smaller than PCGS, NGC, ICG, and others making at somewhat of a challenge when you store them with the other TPG's slabs.

Other than these two items, they grade pretty consistantly and that is the reason why they are a top TPG.
