If you had only one day to attend the ANA show in Rosemont (“Chicago”) next month, which would you choose? In particular, I’m interested in your thoughts on Tuesday vs. Friday. Tuesday has the benefit of being earlier in the show, so presumably more dealers will be present (no early departures creating empty tables into the afternoon, which I assume could be an issue on Friday) and potentially “fresher” inventory that hasn’t been picked over by hordes of collectors over the course of 3 days. A downside of Tuesday is that the show doesn’t open to the public until 1pm, so you get 3 fewer hours on the floor vs. Friday. If you had to pick, which day would you choose (and why, if you don’t mind)? Thanks for your input - I don’t attend many big shows and would like to make the most of the trip!
If Tuesday and Friday are the only choices, then Tuesday. Hands down. At this show, earlier is better. If Wednesday is a good day for you, you’ll have all day to meet and browse.
There’s not a bad day, per se, but by Saturday many dealers will have packed up and left. Most will still be there, but not as many as mid-week.
The World’s Fair of Money is so much more than a giant coin show. The exhibits, the auctions, and the lectures are but a fraction of what happens at the ANA. No matter when you attend, there will be plenty to see
Many dealers are at the show to do business with other dealers. As soon as they complete their business, they pack up and leave. Some dealers can't make the 1st day of the show - too long a drive or whatever. Dealers that do a lot of retail will stick around into Saturday (free to the public day). I would say, from having been various days of the last run in Rosemont, 1st day is the busiest, Friday quieter and Saturday very quiet except for bullion sales to the public. If you are trying to connect with a specific dealer or dealers, reach out to them for their plans.
