Has anyone here ever gone through the courses to acquire an ANA diploma? If so, what are you impressions of the courses? Do you feel that it was worth it?

I completed four courses about 4-5 years ago. I just never got around to finishing all of it up. I already knew most of the grading stuff reasonably well, but I did learn a lot about mint errors and the minting process, as well as how many fakes are made and how to spot them.

I have completed most of the programs and have had my staff go through them also. I highly recommend them. The ANA offers a good complete course that can be done via the mail. If you have the opportunity to attend their summer seminars it will help tremendously. I would suggest that you take advantage of all of the courses. Each can help you obtain more knowledge. With all courses, staying current is very important.

When I started in the hobby, ten years ago or so, I immediately took the Introduction to Numismatics correspondence course. Then, I finished the course on "Grading US Coins Today." Last month, I purchased the course for Counterfeit Detection. Obviously, I think they are worthwhile.

It looks to me like my next coin investment needs to be made in education. Thanks everyone. I would have been surprised if anyone said it wasn't worth it. Just wanted to make sure. :)

Does the ANA still offer correspondence courses? I went to their web site and it was not clear. Where can I find information regarding these courses?

Never mind. I found it. It is under the "Money Market" section and not under "Educational Programs".
