An odd Belgium Indian designing co-incidence?

I can’t find this posted before, but coming across the standard circulation 1,2,5,10 centime coins from Belgium from the mid-19th century which features the Fancy monogram of King Leopold - the design elements were rather peculiar.
If you show the reverse (pictured below) to most people from India, it’s an abstract (and very common type) renderation of Lord Ganesha or Ganpati. (The elephant god) Is there, or could there be a connection? Or co-incidence? I think the design first showed up in 1832...
