    Hi all,

As I was researching my newest acquisition, a quarter noble of Edward III, I came across this resource on the identification of hammered english coins. I think it is an excellent beginning for anyone interested in these coins. It does not cover every type or variation, but supplies some very good information on how to spot some of the differences from ruler to ruler.

Great guide to identification @Orfew thanks for sharing the link. I would love to be able to print it off for my own library.

I hope you share your Edward III quarter noble soon. The Plantagenet gold are great coins.

Thanks. I posted it yesterday. Rather than have you search for it, here it is. Upon doing some research I have concluded that this is quite a scarce coin. There are 5 examples on acsearch. I know it has edge damage, but I like that it was minted at the rarer mint-Calais.

Edward III AV Quarter Noble (c.1361-1369AD) Spink 1513, Treaty-Period Calais Mint, Cross in Circle above shield. Bold, very fine detail, clipped with a little damage on one edge. (HHC4394)
