An example of VF-35 vs. EF-40, a couple of Bust Dollars

    Although these coins are not the same type, these 1798 dollars provide an example of the difference between VF-35 and EF-40, at least going by the obverse.

    This 1798 Small Eagle Bust Dollar is graded VF-35.

    And here is a large eagle 1798 dollar that is graded EF-40.

    Just for reference, this 1798 dollar was the plate coin from Q. David Bowers' two volume silver dollar variety guide. It is shown a variety BB-101, page 282.
