Purchased on a whim to celebrate the completion of my paper. I've been looking for a good brockage for some time. This is about as good as it gets. Tiberius AE semis – 18mm Lugdunum, 12-14 AD TI CAESAR AVGVST F IMPERAT VII laureate head r. brockage of obverse, intended Altar of Lugdunum type RIC 246 [Augustus]
Very cool coin! For some reason I thought that the obverse side of the coin die was on the hammer and the reverse on the anvil. Since there are less of these showing reverses wouldn't that mean the opposite since the worker would be more apt to noticing a coin stuck to the anvil than the hammer? Or is it too early for me to be thinking about it?
