I just again checked the product release schedule at the mint. I still see none of the West Point Mint Uncirculated ASEs that collectors can buy directly from the mint for '09. So, if I am correct the only coins of this type that exist are the '06, '07, '08 with the '07 reverse, and the '08. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought these coins were quite popular and the mint enjoyed success with them. From a historical view what is the likelyhood of the mint restarting these coins next year. I know the mint has a history of not producing coins for circulation in some years or at some mints, I presume this is based on a need. When they stopped making proof sets in the '60s it was due to moving production to San Francisco. I'm reaching here, but could it be the mint is going to change the ASE after next year, which is the 25th year? So many mysteries and unknowns at the mnt.
If you fellas click on "subscriptions" (mint web site) and click on "American Eagle Silver Uncirculated" you will see that the 2009 is being offered as the first coin you will receive under that program. Just a matter o' time till they get around fulfilling our subscription requests......
I did do you stated and there they are. Thanks, even though my big possible sceneario just got deflated. I do wonder though why it is not listed in release schedule?
Also, the 2000 silver eagles that are in the Millennium Coin and Currency sets were struck at West Point, but do not bear a W mintmark.
Yeah, you are getting all worked up in a tizzy over nothing. It's not listed in the release schedule because the Mint hasn't decided on a release date. That's all. It might not come out until Summer or even the Fall, so relax. It's no biggie and nothing to worry about. I hear that breathing into a paper bag helps.
I can assure you I am not in a tizzy over this. I could; however, make a list of a few things I probably should be in a tizzy about if I would really think about it.
Or they may not make them and then you won't be charged and will receive nothing. You can have a subscription but that only guarantees that you will get one IF THEY MAKE THEM. It doesn't guarantee that they will make them.
Really dumb question about the subscription service the Mint offers. I signed up last year for the ASE Uncirculated and for the Uncirculated Mint sets... I just checked my subscriptions at the mint site and it lists the items as shipped 1/26/09 says 0.00 for cost. I know they have not shipped yet, as they are not even listed to be released yet. Dave
