This bill was mistakenly charged to my online account, ($1,030.00 including commission) at the ABNCo auction last month: Chungking. 1922. Specimen banknote. Blue on m/c underprint with steamship vignette. Red specimen overprint, "00000" serial numbers and POC's. Uncirculated to CU condition. It's a beautiful bill. Before sending it back I'd like to know how much it is worth. Depending on the value I may keep it instead of sending it back. Is there a large collector community for a note such as this one?

I know nothing about it, but love ABNCo work and that's a sharp looking note. The ship is a very dynamic looking vignette as well.

FWIW, this specimen note catalogs in Pick at 450.00 in UNC. It is PS-110B. For it to get to the price you were billed at least two people had to believe it was worth $1,000.00.

Question? Isn't there a bidder out there missing a note?

"FWIW, this specimen note catalogs in Pick at 450.00 in UNC. It is PS-110B."

    What does Pick PS-110B mean?

Don't know anything about this note or another bidder. The only thing I know for sure is I didn't bid on it.
It is a beautiful note. Is there a group that collects these notes? I'm actually tempted to get it graded and keep it but that will put a crimp in my budget for buying other ABNCo items this year.

Here's (hopefully) a larger image of the vignette on the Douglas Aircraft certificate

EDIT: Sorry I meant to post the Douglas Aircraft vignette to another thread and I don't know to remove it from this thread.

PS-110B is the catalog number for this note in the China section of the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money Volume I.

This was from an auction, right? If so, the ending price was determined by people bidding it up to that price. I realize you did not bid on it, but someone must have to get it up to that price. Doesn't it make sense that there would be someone out there who is expecting to get this note because they were the real high bidder?

There are people who collect Chinese notes, ABNC notes and notes with ships on them. I agree that it is a great looking note but do you want to sink that much money into something that you don't really collect?

Yes, it's from the auction. I immediately informed them of the error and they told me don't worry you will not be debited for it. Well, they charged my credit card then shipped it to me with my legitimate purchases.

It's growing on me but I can't afford to sacrifice other ABNCo purchases in order to keep the bill. At least that's what I'm thinking right now.
