So American Mint was having a sale on a lot of their gold plated high quality replicas and so I bought a couple for educational purposes, I got the package today, and I have to say I am impressed with the quality and attention to detail on these! They are very very well done beautiful pieces and I am happy with them, feel free to post your gold replicas! 2015 $100 Gold proof copy Bill of Rights commemorative Gold Proof copy
COPY is on the eagle with the "W" mint mark. I Don't see it on the others. Maybe it's on the other side?
I believe there are only two items (obverse then reverse of the first and then the same for the second). So the first one, which is a copy has the copy stamp like you mentioned. The second does not look like any product the US Mint has ever created, so no copy stamp needed.
The first one does. Look at the wing on the reverse. Don't see it on the second one, but then it isn't an exact copy.
Many of their products are made in house with some alterations to original designs. Most all are copper core so the weights are not in spec with the originals. If very close to the original they do use the word copy on them.
Yeah, I searched everywhere online and I couldn't find a coin with a design like that either so maybe it is an American Mint exclusive release? I don't know, but I like the design, it's very well done!
Yes to their doing a lot of exclusives. There was a banknote series at one point. A proof coin with a colored image of the original banknote. There are many others, including honoring the Royals of G.B.
Yes copy is on the first one, but I don't believe it is in compliance with the HPA. Has to be in san serif fount at least 2 mm high 6 mm long and incuse.
Interesting, I didn't know it had to be incuse to be within regulations, it is definitely not incuse, wonder how they got away with that?
I agree that American Mint has some VERY NICE educational pieces. They also have some very well struck pieces with extremely detailed designs. I'll post one example of each. My only problem with them is the $80 or more that they want for a gold or silver plated medal. But sometimes I get lucky when they sell some clearance pieces for $9.95. LOL. My educational piece. Barber's Double Eagle design when he was hoping Saint-Gauden's would fail. Few of us could afford the real thing of course. Would love to see it in the Smithsonian one day. This would've been the first U.S. coin with Liberty on both the obverse and reverse sides. And here's an example of a very detailed design. A Statue of Liberty Reverse Proof Medal. When you zoom in on the torch, you really can see all the details. Too bad not more of their pieces are $9.95.
