This is another variety that I've been looking years for.
This is the 1.00 gm variety rather than the much more common 1.20 gm coin.
Again, not a pricey coin but about 7x-10x less common.

Nice! Those are a bit tricky to find in a collectable condition.

Great, now I need to weigh all of those :p I need to sit down with you and learn all these specific varieties.

Nice coin but I'm curious about this seller's shipping policies. The shipping under "Located in the United States" says it's "$0.69". This is what it says under the "Shipping and payments" tab as well. Then the seller states, "Shipping is just $ 2.99 for as many coins as you want in USA !" Finally, the seller says, "Additional coins are only .19 cents each for shipping."

Well, what is it? Is it 69 cents, a flat rate of $2.99 or $2.99 + 19 cents for each additional coin? This inconsistency would make me hesitant to buy any higher end coins from the seller.

That does look confusing...my read is that it is 69 cents, but for multiple items s/he adds 19 cents--and maxes out at 2.99. The 69 cents is the 'official' cost under the shipping policies and as long as no more coins from the seller, then that is what the ebay invoice will say.

For a 1.0 gram version of the coin at a bit over a dollar--still a deal (even with shipping all the way up to 2.99).

I'd be weighing on arrival of course. And, if I were buying more, I'd shoot the seller an email for clarification.

I didn't pay attention to what S&H cost.
I was thrilled to get an inexpensive coin that I've been after for 5+ years.

Well, the guy had another 1.0 gram listed...but it looked like he was using the same/stock photo. And, he had a few duplicate auctions and what looks like the same photos.

So, I just bought 9 coins from him using the shopping cart. The default was 69 cents per coin but I hit the button for an invoice for all 9. I'll let you know what total shipping I get.

Honestly, I wouldn't have balked at the 69 cents per coin...but then I'd expect 9 different envelopes :D. This will be an interesting sub-$30 experiment and if it works right I will have a 1.0 gram coin plus some 'BU' coins that fill date holes.

I REALLY hope these are what he says they are. The mid 20th century coins of Japan are tricky to find in BU condition, despite their generally enormous mintages and low catalog prices. War time and delicate metal content did not work in their favor.

Thanks OP for bringing post this...if I get a few decent coins out of this (at reasonable prices no less), this is a big win.

Well, I got the invoice and was charged a whopping 1.37 shipping for all 9 coins. Granted they are small and light, but instead of adding 19 cents for each extra, it was 8.5 cents each.

To the OP -- sorry for the derailment of the thread, and thanks for pointing this guy out. If these are truly the 1.0 gram coins we are lucky indeed! Did I mention thank you? This has been an elusive coin!
