OK, Admit it.When the Thomas Edison Coins were issued,and the Mint offered this almost comical way of packaging it,YOU wanted to buy one.How many actually went for it? I'll be the first to fess up.I love to stand in a dark room and open it up.It's so lovely.
I wanted one, I'm still wanting one, and am sort of reguarly looking for one. The problem is, by the time I actually get one, even Edison's battery will probably be kaput..
Telsa > Eddison. Still I want to get one because as of yet the United States hasn't made a Nikola Tesla commemorative coin.
I got one, and I really like it even if it never increases or even decreases in value. I think it's an awesome collector package for young and old alike. Know what though? Those darn batteries are not real easy to remove; or am I just a pathetic mechanical/technical engineer?! Let me know. I can take it! :smile
I never really thought about the batteries since these instructions were included with the package but after examining the electronics carefully I can see the problem.The batteries are placed under three round retaining plates that are soldered to the circuit board.They are held under these by two small bendable tabs.It looks like the tabs closest to the edge are where the batteries slide out and in fact,they are only partially bent down,so this would be the easiest way to change them..kind of complicated but considering that this type of battery should last for a lot of years,not too ridiculous. PS:Notice the bouquets of flowers in the corners of the instruction sheet.Your Mint spares no expense to provide you with the most attractive packaging for you coin needs...haha
Thanks, I see what you mean. The tabs on my batteries are almost completely bent down. No problem though, as I was able to easily straighten them and remove the batteries. I just hope they'll hold with the same firmness once re-inserted.
I want to buy one, but am still only 12 and therefor don't have a ton of money. Plus the only one at the local dealer is a proof that is like $50.
