Always Double Check. Newcomb find I nearly missed.

Gearing up to sell some coins and good amount of Matron Heads.

I sent some pictures out of some and wanted $150 with this 1820 Small Date. Just by chance I thought to look them over and unless I am going nuts (It has been hectic day and I am writing this about 5 minutes after I noticed it) it seems this was a N-4.

Not a major find but a scarce to very scarce Newcomb.

N-13, point of leaf past right of D, diagnostic.
N-4 also has the laft edge of the curl over the center of the 2. Also appears to be a club top 2 (pictures dark can't tell for sure) N-4 has a curl top 2

I had it pegged as small date and then looked at reverse.

Actually I agree: N-13 but it does not seem to have the obverse die cracks. Rare EDS?

Early die state, not sure if it is rare but it is unusual, N-13 does usually come with the crack.

In the Dan holes sale he had one they called a rare early die state that just had faint traces of the crack. They show strongest through star 7 & 8. I can't tell if it is present on your coin or not.
