Altered or Fake??

    Looks genuine to me. The picture may have been run through imaging software. Don't think I'd bid on it though as that one looks pretty beat up. The '81-S is commonly found in high grade and often Proof Like. I've seen much nicer examples sell regularly for around $40.

    what lead you to think it was altered or fake?

    I agree with doug that it looks genuine, but rather ugly for such an easy date to find in nice condition (MS64+)

    I think its the lighting. The hair looks like its been tooled below the ear. Probably just how it was photographed.
