Not a Cud.. They are IDB's - Interior Die Breaks

Just a Die Deterioration/Worn Die issue.
Neat to find and collect but nothing really major.

These are Cuds.. It involves the Rim and the field

There are two terms used, IDB and Die Chip. The boundaries aren't all that clear. A die chip is a type of IDB, but a minimal one.

The die chip can be stable or grow in size as more and more chips off. At which point at some ill-defined size it becomes clearer to call it an IDB.

IDBs can be spectacular - where whole chunks of the die are broken leaving sizable interior portions of the coin totally unstruck. Which leave you wondering, "How did that die survive being slammed into pieces of metal only slightly less hard than itself"?

Feels good getting a catalog put together. The state quarter series is a fun and easy one to put together.... When I was doing mine years ago, I got impatient and went to the carwash and started feeding bills into the machine that changes bills to quarters. But I got it complete!

Those die breaks on the hat of the Crossing of the Delaware 2021 quarters ended up growing REALLY large, like a bowl of soup :)

Keep looking for them, I haven't found one yet but I'm holding out!! :)
