Okay, now this is what I would call a no compromise DMPL Morgan. No shots at it to enhance reflectivity, and a lot of cameo.
That seller could probably make semi-pl coins look like that. Good subject matter 4 a thread though, and yes, thats probably a no question dmpl albeit exaggerated
Judging from the appearance of the label, someone stretched that photo's contrast to the breaking point. The darks are artificially dark.
I would take your word for it. But I would pass on every listing that had images that look like that. The contrast is pushed to the breaking point. The holder is a great way to tell how much a photo has been messed with. I know, someone who can run Photoshop can easily select just the coin and enhance it, but you have to be really good for it not to look off. Edited to add.. The one comforting factor about that image is that it's a newer PCGS holder with DMPL on the label.
Also one of the stranger aspects of the image as well. The coin probably doesn't need any help to look DMPL but it got some anyway
I can believe that, but the seller really needs to set up a photography rig to capture the look without the gratuitous Photoshoppery.
You would be surprised that the coin actually loooks very much like that. The exposure is obviously dark, from looking at the label, but the coin has incredible contrast. I know the seller, and don't think he doctored the photo intentionally, as there is no way that coin needs doctored pictures.
I'm trustworthy....... Just ask Frank (@Treashunt). Heck, I think he should weigh in on this..........perhaps not. Getting my threads mixed up. The Chicago Exhibition thread is the one he should have a peek at.
And they do. Did PCGS really miss a dmpl or is it just the images (and note that all of the images from this seller look like this). Look at this listing:
Which seller is this? I'm not sure I can count the ebay sellers that do this on one hand anymore. It seems to be gaining in popularity...
Here is the ebay listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1879-S-MORG...024576?hash=item2384b0a580:g:jPAAAOSwlndZBiMP Don't everyone rush and outbid me
There are many reliable ebay sellers (too many to list). Even the one with the enhanced photos still takes returns, so one can always inspect their coins in hand and decide if the photos are ok enough in terms of how good the coin actually looks.
