    WOW, WOW, WOW

I AM LITERALY DROOLING AT THE MOUTH
the 1847 gothic crown is my favourite coin of all time anyway. And is always considered to be one of the most beautiful coins in the world.

this has got to be the most perfect example you can find.It was sold at london coin auctions and only made 2500 pounds, had an estimate of 1500!!!!!!.Whoever purchased that coin im sure can double it, looks like the best example you could possibly find.

Just had to express my love of this coin, queen victoria looks most lovley , in quite literaly star struck over this coin. Can any other coin ever justify being even in the same league in beauty as this coin, maybe some will have something to say to that. But for me this is the mostly lovley coin ever made. And this is the best example you could find anywhere of it.

There is some very privledge lucky collector somewhere sitting in his dining room or study just puilling this out every now and then bringing a big smile to his face.jealousy dont even describe how i feel about him.

She is truly lovely and still looking good after all of these years. There seems to be a softness about this coin.
I love the braiding of the hair as well but without upsetting the English British, is that what is called a "French Braid"?

i love the detail on her dress, thats the kind of thing that puts that coin wayyy above others the sheer detail put in

I agree as well. I was so taken with the softness of the face that I didn't even paid heed to the dress. This is one of those coins that could be looked at for a while in hand and under the lense.

i think but dont quote me on it, its a kind of tudor look, the victorians around that period copied tudor look in almost everything.99% of all the old black oak furniture and tudor houses about now were built in the early victorian era.

the georgian 's got there influence from ancient greece, everything done in corinthian columns and dental cornice.

this made way to the regency period of fluted and curves.with was heavily french influenced mostly after louis xvi.

giving way to the tudor influence of big black beams and lace and ball and claw .

so to me i would say the influence there is the end of the regency and start of the tudor influence.

When something came into fashion everything was built in that fashion.for instance i can date a house to 30 years just by looking at it, the same with furniture. The exactly same sttyle was built into everything.

chippendale and hepplewhite were all influenced by robert adam probably the greatest british achitect of the time, everything was cubist and straight lines houses including furniture and cutlery, this given way to everything having round arches and round tables and bow fronted furniture ect.

so i would say its early victorian tudor influence

Do you think the owner would loan it to the forum members to pass around & drool over? Watch where you drool unless it is in a slab or airtight! :D :D :D :D

its not in a slab unless the buyer put it in but doubt it.We dont realy go in for slabbing here we prefer to hold the coin.

slabbing is a bit like *** or fishing and putting your catch back, it just dont feel the same :)

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder. A very attractive coin, but far from a unanimous choice as the most beautiful  by every collector in the world. Think of some of Doug's early gold, or the classic dragons of several Far Eastern countries, or [you fill in the blank]. ;)

I must agree about the "most beautiful coin" being that one, and that particular example is superb. I don't have a Gothic Crown yet (a bit too pricey for me) but I have a couple of Gothic Florins, and will be getting another later this month. Thanks for posting that one!!!

You know Highlander, I think you are the perfect example of why we need an adult only posting area and I mean that in a nice way.
Why I think if you could have things your way you would have a coin show in a pub with a cover charge that keeps the bar open and the drinks flowing. Whisky that is not Scotch. Do you have any other darlings that you care to share with us?
