Actually, I have eliminated the coins off the schedule for some much needed R&R. It was a crazy year for us, and really looking forward to 2005.
I don't trust my hubby to pick out coins for me for Christmas...guess I'll go shopping for myself after the holidays
I'm hoping to get an 1806 Australian Colonial Proclamation penny, if my bid on Ebay will buy it. Also, I'm expecting a 3-legged Buffalo Hobo Nickel from Ron Landis at the Gallery Mint real soon.
I'm not supposed to know, but my wife is giving me a Dansco album for Franklin halves, as well as several coins to get me started. I think what she gives me plus what I have set aside, I should be able to fill roughly half the album. Meanwhile, I'm still about six coins short of completing my JFK set. Probably should have finished that up first before starting another. But, that's me. Start many, finish few. But, it's fun.
I didn't treat myself to any coins, but....... I picked up 6 1950 - 1950 E 10.00 u.s. bills in XF condition. And a Near mint condition 100.00 1864 confederate bill
Hi, CN here........I had been pretty naughty thru the year......buying more coins than I should.....and even overspending more than I had allotted myself for a special coin or two...so I was pretty well expecting to recieve the traditional "lump of coal"...... but it seems that Santa had a soft spot for me and maybe even a little of that old collecting bug too..... There were two coin gifts under the tree this year!!.......WOW!!!!!! Thanks Santa!!
Sylvester,I didn't have any mince pies, but I did eat a lot of roast potatoes, ham & plenty of peas & carrots.I always like mint sauce & cranberry sauce. What did you have for Christmas dinner? I sat down with a bag of chippies (or crisps to some people) in front of the telly watching that classic Christmas movie 'Home Alone 2'.Have you seen it? It is a real laugh.Do you ever watch Billy Connolly on the telly? He is my favourite comedian,as he leaves the so-called 'comedians' from New Zealand dead in the water,as the old saying goes.
Santa was good to me- I got a 2004 1/25 oz gold Isle of Man Cat to add to my collection. There's that darn Dark Side thing again... Funny story to go along with it. I bought my Dad a gift certificate to our favorite coin store when I was out shopping with him a couple of weeks ago. I had one of the guys at the store distract him while I bought the certificate. Little did I know that while I was busy getting the certificate, Dad was buying the Cat. So we both pulled a fast one on each other! Rachel
I managed to receive a world crown from Great Britain but have decided I want the coin that Sylvester uses as his avatar! Not sure what it really is, at this point in time, but it definitely has eye appeal and history written all over it! Probably will not fall within my budget but there is nothing like dreaming a little!
Hmm my Christmas dinner, well we had goose, sprouts, mashed potato, (not roast potatos though, which is criminal actually, ever heard of no roast potatoes at Christmas? ), brocolli, carrots, gravy, parsnip (instead of roast potato, i know which i would have preferred) and the best bit, the stuffing! Didn't have any crisps though. Yeah i've seen Home Alone 2, i must say i prefer the first one but i like the second, it wasn't on this year though. I don't watch Billy Connolly but i know exactly who you mean! They say he's good but i haven't actually had time to sit down and see for myself, although i've seen him on telly, i haven't seen him actually doing on of his shows and being on a roll.
That would be a sixpence, and as you say not cheap i'm afraid, it took me a while to get that one. The one pictured is a very high grade William and Mary 1693 sixpence, i also have a lower grade 1694 one but that's the rarer date. (Only issued for two dates). I know where there are a few 1693 sixpences for sale, and a 1694. Infact i dunno why but i was thinking of buying another cos i like them so much. Here's a bigger pic and the reverse. (i'll find a pic of the 1694 one).
Sylvester you have given me some valuable information and I appreciate it! The coin has been added to my "Must Have" list and the search will be on!!! Sure is a beautiful coin that would look great in my world collection. I will have to keep you posted on this one!!!
I know where there's a cheap (a really cheap one for sale that i could PM you a link to), it used to be mine actually. It's a high grade specimen and it's nice, but it's been cleaned at some stage and it's got die flaws, or flan flaws. You could call it an error.
