I won this on Saturday... a nice Alexander Balas Tetradrachm.. Also, earlier today I searched for it on http://digi.ub.uni-heidelberg.de and discovered that it has provenance going back to at least 1928 and was offered in Cahn 60 in 1928 and then again in Cahn 65 in 1929... Possibly going unsold in 1928? in 1929 it was estimated at 50 Reichsmarks or about 11.9 USD which adjusted for inflation is about 170 USD (which is actually more than it was estimated at in 2017 but a little less then I paid.) (not sure what it sold for though)
Great TET and price, interesting looking back at the photography and provenance. What a difference digital photography makes.
I found another provenance... in 1925 it sold at Naville X From the "Baron Alexandre de Petrowicz" Collection
Great pics! Beautiful coin and great job researching. Don't know if I like more the cool lil nike on the reverse or the nose and great hair on the obverse.
What a fantastic coin @arnoldoe i love the obverse bust of Alex. And to have a provenance gong back to 1928 is really impressive. In the humble opinion of TheRed you scored a real winner.
