Superb job of before and after. Clear date and S of Sigismund I of Poland. Congratulations on a good find.
@galba68 You certainly rescued that coin through your restoration skills -- very well done!!! I have an example from just 3 years prior: I like this type for multiple reasons. Perhaps mostly for its obverse legend IVSTVS EX FIDE VIVIT, which refers to a central phrase used three times in KJV: "The just shall live by faith". Much history was being made in these years (1538 - 1541) in Europe. Key figures living at the time included: Martin Luther, John Calvin, Philip Melanchthon, Jewish Rabbi Shalom ben Joseph (in Poland), and King Henry VIII. And beyond Europe, Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent sealed off Jerusalem's Golden Gate (presumably because of a prophecy that the Messiah would return through this gate into the city). Meanwhile far across the Atlantic in the "New World", the famed explorer Hernando de Soto (the only one of all these figures to become namesake of an automobile - LOL!) made his way to the Mississippi River, which he named "Rio de Espiritu Santo" in 1541. * * Thank you Wiki!
Wow! What a great conservation result! I've always wondered where in Europe you are. Now I have some clue.
