Where are the Alaska state quarters? Here in Dutchess County NY NO banks and credit unions have them. Why has it taken so long to reach the public since the release date in late August?
I haven't seen any here in the Southwest either. Just loads and loads of AZ quarters. Not that thats bad. Guy~
My guess would be that the banks order coins as needed. With the current state of the economy AND the numbers of quarters being issued, your local banks haven't felt a need to order more yet. And the distribution points (Federal Reserves?) haven't gotten rid of their older stocks yet. Best bet if you want them now is a coin show or store.
Kanga pretty much summed it up. If the Fed that your banks draw on is overflowing with quarters they need to use up what's on hand. We sell them at the shop and we paid a premium to get them here (near Chicago).
IT'S A CONSPIRACY!! the reason there aren't any alaska quarters to be found is because the palin haters won't let them be distributed! ................just kidding of course, but you never know what will come from politics.
maybe they are not out yet in to your area my area Syracuse is sorta near Buffalo and Clevland's Federal Reserve branch has a target date of September 24th so everyone must endure patience in this time of need and remain calm here is link i was looking at - or look up the Federal Reserve branch in your area from this link http://www.frbservices.org/operations/currency/cleveland.html Snowman
Bank in E. Lansing/Frandor Michigan has a coin shop operating in the basement and they have them at face value down there. I'd imagine the bank has them as well. Have not seen them in circulation or at other banks as of yet.
Yes, the reserve banks distribute the coinage. However most people don't realize that it costs the banks to acquire coin from the reserve. Most banks won't order coin unles they need them, yet some banks will order coin in order to get the new released quarters just for their customers. There is no free exchange of currency between the banks and the reserve. My understanding is that the banks have no control over what quarters are shipped when they order them. This whole statehood program is almost over. Boy am I glad to see it come to an end.
I've had them for a few weeks...just sent out my normal shipment to my buddy in another state that gets D's. He will ship me the same ammount of rolls back when he gets the D's. Speedy
Alaska Quarters Boy, it's a slooooow process of distribution. Yeah, I think they're checking for errors too, lol. It is a conspirousy. Could the dealers and big, big buyers(HSN, ShopNBC,etc.) slow down the distribution? :vanish:
My dealer still hasn't gotten them in and I want them bad. I think they are one of the best designs of the series.
