I have been collecting for a long time and somehow failed to get a portrait of Agrippina Junior until now. I found one at a non-ancient dealer at the Chicago ANA (his table was the furthest from the ancient section, way in the back). He had very many ring binders with foreign coins and only one with ancients. All but one coin were pretty lousy (I'll bet little has been sold from that ring binder in the last decade). But this one found a home: It is a Syrian tetradrachm from Antioch under Nero, whose name is clear on the obverse (from 1:00). Her name is clear on the reverse (also from 1:00). 25-22 mm. Prier 74. Struck 56-57 AD (known from the date before her neck). It is "provincial"and not "imperial", but I get to check her name off the list.
It's great when you find something when and where you don't expect it. This is a wonderful coin and it could easily find a home in many of our collections.
